Thomas Vermaelen

Arsenal’s first signing for the 2009/2010 campaign is a Belgian defender from Ajax Amsterdam. I haven’t heard much about this fellow, but he’s young, so I hope he can adjust to the team as well as Shava (23) did.

There hasn’t been much talk about any Gunners leaving the Emirates, so perhaps Thomas is another Senderos-like experiment by Le Prof. I have to admit, I kind of had jitters when there were reports mentioning Kolo’s departure. Despite his boo-boos towards the end of last season, I think Kolo is one of those Gunners who played with his heart.

There hasn’t been a kit number assigned to Thomas yet. Could it be that we are waiting to hear news about Phillipe? There’s only one team in London! Arsenal!
