Red Salvo Gets A Facelift
After its first season out in cyberspace, Red Salvo has been given an overhaul in terms of its branding. There were a couple of enhancements made. Primarily – the logo.
The old logo incorporated a shield, with a graphic of an old cannon. As the months went by, I realised that the logo got older. And heck, it got boring! So I went back to the drawing board, and sampled a few ideas.
Initially, I kept looking at the current Arsenal FC insigna, and got way too influenced by it. I basically mashed up the logo and hacked it into a Red Salvo impression. It was darn ugly. So ugly, I’d rather not show you!
I took a couple of days break to let some inspiration come down into my brain. And then I got it. Let’s just take the main element of the Gunner’s logo, the cannon. I ripped it off the original logo, gave it a littl polish and whipped it into a web 2.0 kind of style. I got Shahib to help me out a bit to add a ’shine’ to the logo.
The next thing I did was to download a free font that looked close to the Gunner’s typography. And voila! We got the new, refreshing, modern and sparking Red Salvo logo. I’m so proud! C’mon, you, GUNNERS!
